Digital Stage—the online platform for theatre, film, music, circus, and dance of the Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu (TNRS) and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS)—welcomes audiences in June with two new productions that explore profound themes through innovative artistic languages.
In Italian folklore, a curannera was a healer—a woman of the people who practiced traditional medicine, using elements of nature to alleviate ailments of the body and spirit. The muse of the Taranto-based ensemble Yaràkä is, by excellence, a bridge between seemingly distant cultures. The ensemble’s repertoire is rooted in ritual culture: each song recounts the exorcism of a malady of the soul or evokes a fear that blocks the circulation of energies, finding its remedy in an ancestral chant.
Kafka’s The Trial captures the surreal feeling of being suspended between a dream and a distant memory. The story of Joseph K. traverses themes of time, dream states, the afterlife, healing, and consciousness.
Joseph K.’s story is our daily story—one in which we often find ourselves overwhelmed by questions about the future.
Both productions will be available on Digital Stage starting June 1.
