The Incomparable Story of Abul Hossein the Yemeni and His Flight into the Desert, directed by Silviu Purcărete, brings to the stage an almost forgotten history from the vast tapestry of One Thousand and One Nights: the story of a lost story, one that the sultan himself—wearied by endless tales—demands with a childlike curiosity. For what is no longer told acquires a special radiance, and its rediscovery becomes the pretext for a theatrical adventure.
Together with set designer Dragoș Buhagiar and composer Vasile Șirli, director Silviu Purcărete opens, through this production, a choral universe—alive and in constant vibration. The actors become storytellers, musicians, spirits, witnesses, and accomplices, woven into a scenic fabric in which music, rhythm, and improvisation give birth to the world itself. Their voices merge, clash, harmonize, and unravel, evoking the pure pleasure of storytelling—that ancient, vital joy from which all of the One Thousand and One Nights were born.
