National Theatre of Sibiu production is an adaptation of Oedipus at Colonus and Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. The production surprises by the force of almost cinematographic vision of the staging of director Silviu Purcărete who blends reality with imagination, developing a poetic of excruciating details. It is a painting of dismay, of presentiments and unhappiness, in the spirit of the great masters, a current interpretation of a legendary destiny.
Oidip is a return, says director Silviu Purcărete, at his old concerns for tragic. "Oidip is one of the most beautiful texts of dramatic literature. As it has been noted, I return to Greek tragedy after many years, an opportunity to exercise again my desire to create the same images that I have not worked with for some time"said Silviu Purcărete during rehearsals in Sibiu.
