THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE ABRIDGED

by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield

DIRECTED BY: Daniel Plier
TRANSLATION: Dorothea Renckhoff
CAST: Ali Deac, Valentin Späth, Daniel Plier

duration: 1h 30min / ticket price: 25 lei; reduced: 0 lei

Presented upon the premier as “the craziest classic performance of all times” by a British newspaper, it has been a sold out performance for more than 15 years in London. Meanwhile, it is one of the most popular performances in the world, and starting 31 January, it is presented in Sibiu as well. All 37 comedies and drama written by Shakespeare are played in Elizabethan manner – men play also the female characters – in a “brief marathon” by three actors. The dramaturgy, transposed in a culinary show, on a football stadium, at the court, creates a connection to nowadays: they rap, kill, revenge, cry and passionately love – all by the rules of art. The audience is directly involved in this hilarious roller coaster. An incisive homage to Shakespeare and theatre.

German Department // Performance presented in German with Romanian translation

PREMIER DATE: 31 JANUARY 2012
