“I will try to share with my future students everything I in turn have learnt from my meetings with well-known directors.” Ofelia Popii, form teacher at the Sibiu Theatre and Cultural Management School.

17-Sep-2018

Starting with the university year 2018-2019, Ofelia Popii, one of the most famous and loved theatre and film actresses in Romania, will be a form teacher at the Theatre and Cultural Management School within the Department of Drama and Theatre Studies at “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu. Thursday, 13 September 2018, is the last day when you can enrol to the BA course within the Sibiu Theatre and Cultural Management School.

‘I will try to share with my future students everything I in turn have learnt from my theatre experiences with the important directors I’ve met. I have waited a while before starting teaching, so as to have time to outline the best study plan for my future students. I think that the meeting between me and my future students will only bring them benefits, as I’ll be as open as possible to guiding and to helping them build a solid career. I very much wish for my future students to become actors whose voice will be heard in our art and I hope we will be able to make the most of the time we will spent together over the next years. I can’t wait to meet them!’, Ofelia Popii, actress.

The Sibiu Theatre School, among the most active in the country
Despite the fact that it is still a rather young institution, having only been set up 21 years ago, in 1997, the Sibiu Theatre and Cultural Management School is one of the most active higher education institutions in the country. In 2011, following a national evaluation, the Sibiu Theatre School was declared the best Romanian theatre school. In Sibiu, the professors are some of the most loved actors and directors of the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre: Ofelia Popii, Constantin Chiriac, Diana Fufezan Codruța Vasiu, Cătălin Pătru, Veronica Pătru, Bogdan Sărătean, and Cristina Blaga are just some of them, and the future students will have the chance to perform in student shows directed by the most well-known Romanian directors, like Silviu Purcărete, Bogdan Georgescu or Eugen Jebeleanu. The future students of the Sibiu Theatre and Cultural Management School have a real chance at training and professional development starting from their student years. Through the partnerships signed by the educational institution with the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, the biggest theatre festival in Romania and one of the biggest in Europe and in the world, with the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre and with the Sibiu Performing Arts Market, the future students will be able to participate for free at the workshops organized during FITS every year, at meetings and conferences with great names of Romanian and foreign theatre, to take part in castings and national and international tours organized by the Sibiu Department of Drama and Theatre Studies and by TNRS. For complete information about enrolling at the BA courses within the Sibiu Department of Drama and Theatre Studies, access its official Facebook page.
