On 10 and 11 March, Chur (in the Grisons canton, Switzerland) will host the international literary event “4+1 Translatar Tradurre Übersetzen Traduire”. The international event showcases the art of literary translation between the four official languages of Switzerland (German, French, Italian and Romansh), and a guest language; this year’s programme focuses on Romanian. More than 20 translators, editors and authors from Switzerland and abroad will present their works to the public, during literary readings, seminars, discussions and debates.

The schedule opens on 10 March with a ceremony attended by Martin Jäger, State Counsellor, President of the Department of Education, Culture and Environmental protection, Patrik Degiacomi, Mayor of the City of Chur, and Sandra Maissen, President of the Foundation for Confederal Cooperation. Later, at 8 p.m., the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre presents the show “Common People”, by Gianina Cărbunariu, at Theatre Chur. The representation will be followed by a talk with the audience at the theatre bar, with the participation of the cast and the director.

The production addresses a general interest topic, drawing attention on the situation of whistleblowers in Romania, Italy, and the United Kingdom, European countries with different contexts and legislations regarding whistleblowers. The performance brings together 8 real cases, documented during the project and underlying the text written by Gianina Cărbunariu, played by the actors Florin Coşuleţ, Mariana Mihu, Ioan Paraschiv, Ofelia Popii, Dana Taloș and Marius Turdeanu.

“Common People” is realized in the framework of Be SpectACTive!, a project co-financed by Creative Europe, of which TNRS is a partner for the period 2014-2018.
