Ten more Eminescu recitals in Sibiu

21-Jan-2019

On Tuesday, 15 January 2019, the actor Constantin Chiriac, General Manager of the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre of Sibiu and President of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, will hold the recital “Domnule și Frate Eminescu” (Mr. and Brother Eminescu) at the headquarters of BRD Groupe Societe Generale (4 p.m.) and at the Academy of Romanian Scientists (6 p.m.). In Sibiu, a series of ten other Eminescu recitals are scheduled for 14-18 January in schools and high schools, to be held by TNRS actors Ema Vețean, Gabriela Neagu, Lerida Buchhlotzer, Rodica Mărgărit, Ioana Blaga Frunzescu, Geraldina Basarab, Renate Mueller-Nica, Cristina Stoleriu, Cătălin Neghină, and Liviu Vlad. The events are dedicated to the 169th anniversary of the birth of Mihai Eminescu, the Romanian national poet, and to the National Culture Day of Romania.

The recital “Domnule şi frate Eminescu” is structured as a dialogue between Mihai Eminescu and Ion Creangă, exploring the creative connection and the unique friendship which tied the two great Romanian artists. It will include fragments of letters and writings by Ion Creangă (Amintiri din copilărie/Memories of My Childhood) and poems by Mihai Eminescu (Speranța, Glossă, Trecut-au anii, Revedere, Alei mică, alei dragă, Urât și sărăcie), as well as poems by Marin Sorescu (Noi, ce îngrozitori de mari) and a poem by Anton Pann (Povestea vorbei). The show pays homage to the great Romanian national poet.

‘Mr. Eminescu once said something that is of high importance to Romanian culture and for the development of Romanian culture: “Personality is the greatest of goods.” I think this is what we should strive for nowadays: creating personalities, people who are capable, strong, can take a stand and build something”, Constantin Chiriac, General Manager of TNRS, President of FITS
